Underground beer cooler launched

A beer cooler that keeps beers cool outside by storing them underground has been launched by a Dutch firm.

The “eCool” or Earth Cooler, is just over a metre long, holds 24 years and is designed to be sunk into the ground with a crank to bring a beer to the top whenever one is needed.

Although beers placed into the eCool can be pre-chilled, the device uses the naturally cooler temperatures below ground to keep beers cool and even cool them down if placed directly into the machine from a crate.

According to the Daily Mail, the eCool will set you back US$350 but uses no electricity, is easy to install with the help of a garden drill (or a shovel if you’re a “real man”) and can be kept in place all year round.
