Top new wine apps in the UK

It’s just as hard to keep up with the latest wine trends as it is the newest technology. So here we have compiled the best of the latest wine apps to help keep you both tech and vino savvy.

These apps combine sleek design, unquestionable expertise and good-old-fashioned usefulness and utility.

What’s more is their affordability, both in purchase price terms (with most of them actually being free) and in the fact that they can save you money by finding the best wines at the best price.

Have a look for yourself. With these apps you’ll never again be left wanting with wine.

Delectable

Delectable, which released its latest update on June 18, is a free app that takes photos of wine bottle labels and then scans information from various outlets to offer the wine’s origin, flavour profile and expert reviews in an average of just 2.6 seconds.

The app is being lauded by wine connoisseurs and amateurs alike, with one user review saying: “The app is great because I no longer have to write down the wine I love or keep the cork. Also, it helps me learn my taste in wine. THE BEST PART is that when I love a wine, I can order it right from the app either by the bottle or in cases. Amazing.”

Crushed

The latest Crushed update was launched only a couple of months ago, but it is already proving to be a success, as the free app that combines wine expertise and sociability targets a new generation of wine drinkers.

Track what you are drinking, search for details on new labels and share the wines you love with other Crushed users or post them straight to your other social networks.

UK Wine Tax Calculator

The UK Wine Tax Calculator app does exactly what it says on the tin – and it does it in a satisfyingly simple way. The free app shows you exactly how much money you give the government every time you buy a bottle of wine.

The app does the hard work for you – just enter the price you paid, select the alcohol level of the wine, and whether it’s still or sparkling, and the app will give you the answer.

Find A Vino

Next is Find A Vino – a wine app designed to help wine drinkers in the UK find “great value, good quality wines” in the country’s leading retailers like Tesco, Waitrose and Majestic. All the wines listed on the site will either have won an international award or will have been recommended by wine critics to which users can subscribe.

The app also comes with customer reviews from us at the drinks business as well as from IWSC and ThirtyFifty, while users can subscribe to critics such as Ned Halley through In-App Purchases after a free trial period.

It is priced at a very reasonable £1.49.

The London Wine Guide

Finally, it’s The London Wine Guide app, which was recently introduced to assist wine lovers in discovering the best places to drink or buy wine in London.

Containing a regularly updated list of over 120 different places to visit, the app works with London wine writer Matt Walls.

Commenting on the app, Walls said: “This app will guide you to the very best of what London has to offer, from traditional merchants to relaxed natural wine bars, from cheap lunch options to fine dining restaurants.”

It is priced at £2.49.
