New wine apps aid UK drinkers
Two new apps have been launched this month to help UK-based wine lovers get the best out of their preferred drink.
On 2 June, The London Wine Guide iPhone app was introduced to assist wine lovers discover the best places to drink or buy wine in London.
Containing a regularly updated list of over 120 different places to visit, the app works with London wine writer Matt Walls.
“This app will guide you to the very best of what London has to offer, from traditional merchants to relaxed natural wine bars, from cheap lunch options to fine dining restaurants,” commented Walls on the new product.
Then, officially unveiled today, is Find A Vino – a wine App designed to help wine drinkers in the UK find “great value, good quality wines” in the country’s leading retailers.
All the wines listed on the site will either have won an international award or will have been recommended by wine critics, which users can subscribe to.
The App lists recommended or award-winning wines from the critics and competitions and orders them using an algorithm to show the best value wines at the top, using both price and score/award.
The App comes with the IWSC, the drinks business and ThirtyFifty customer reviews pre-installed, while users can subscribe to critics such as Ned Halley through In-App Purchases after a free trial period.
The App has a list of supermarkets that the wines are available from, including price, special offers and availability information which is updated daily.
The retailers involved at launch are Tesco, Asda, Waitrose, Marks & Spencer, Majestic, Adnams and ThirtyFifty, although Laithwaites, The Drink Shop, Waitrose Cellar and Fortnum & Mason are also on board and will be available within the next two months.
Find A Vino is currently available for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, priced at £1.49, and can be bought here.
