Man on motorised beer cooler arrested
An Australian man was arrested after he was caught driving under the influence down the middle of a suburban street on a motorised beer cooler.
Police spotted the man riding the motorised cooler, which has a maximum speed of 20kmph, on a road in Perth about 8pm on Friday night, as reported by Perth Now.
Police said in a statement: “This motor vehicle would only be able to travel at very low speeds, the lighting devices on said vehicle would be negligible and make it very difficult for other motorists to see.”
The 22-year-old man from Sorrento, who was charged with driving under the influence, was reportedly on his way to a service station and thought the mini beer cooler motor would be safer than his car.
The vehicle, known as an esky in Australia, can be bought online for around AUS$500 with many Aussies taking their love of the mini-motors to the extreme, adapting them into weird and wonderful creations as this video from 2012’s Australia Day shows.
