Wine thief caught at George Clooney’s villa
An intruder who broke into George Clooney’s Italian villa on Lake Como only got as far as stealing one bottle of wine before he was caught.
According to the Telegraph, the 29-year-old Romanian man found the wine in the garden and took it with him as he tried to force his way into the house, at which point he was spotted by staff.
When the Italian police arrived at the Hollywood star’s home, the man is reported to have threatened them with the bottle before being arrested and charged with theft.
Speculation is rife that the recently engaged Clooney may be planning to marry his Anglo-Lebanese fiancée Amal Alamuddin at the Lake Como property, Villa Oleandra, which he bought in 2002. The star is not thought to have been at home during the break-in.
