Top 5 restaurants: Chelsea Flower Show

With the Chelsea Flower Show set to kick off later this month, team db has rounded up just some of London’s restaurants that are embracing the show with their own Chelsea-themed selection of food and drink.

From herb-infused ice cocktails, tasting menus with edible flowers and a floral Afternoon Tea, many of the capital’s restaurants are going the extra mile to entice visitors through their doors during the festival.

Thousands are expected to descend on the Royal Hospital in Chelsea for the four-day festival, which will run for four days from 20 May to 24, where more than 500 exhibitors will be showcasing stunning floral displays and landscaping.

City in Bloom at Sauterelle

To celebrate the Chelsea Flower Show this year, Sauterelle, at the Royal Exchange Grand Café in London’s Bank, has created City in Bloom, a floral-inspired tasting menu priced at £55 for four courses with paired wines, available from 19 to 23 May. Dishes include heritage beetroot with Bocconcinin mozzarella, pickled fennel and violet flowers and a deconstructed rhubarb crumble with hazelnut praline crumble, rhubarb sorbet, and wild primrose flowers.

Enjoy a gin and tonic with an infused twist at Launceston Place

Michelin-starred restaurant Launceston Place will be serving herb infused ice to accompany a glass of Hendrick’s gin and tonic throughout the festival. Served at the restaurant in Chelsea’s neighbouring borough of Kensington, the ice will be infused with aromatic Juniper berries, lime, thyme and rosemary. The perfect way to cheers the Chelsea Flower Show.

A Floral Afternoon Tea at Corinthia Hotel London

Corinthia Hotel London will be serving a very special floral Afternoon Tea from 19 to 25 of May to celebrate the show. Inspired by the gardens and vibrant horticulture displays, diners can enjoy delights such as the Spring Meadow – a lemon and lavender drizzle cake, and the English Rose Garden – an almond macaroon with rose mousseline and raspberries. The Afternoon Tea is available in the lobby lounge or, for larger groups, the private dining room in The Northall restaurant. Prices for Afternoon Tea with a glass of Laurent-Perrier are £58 per person.

Dine at The Ritz Restaurant for The RHS Chelsea Flower Show

The Ritz London has created a special menu in honour of the Chelsea Flower Show which will be available between 20 May to 25. Executive chef John Williams’ menu will include dishes such as langoustine with broad beans (£26) or roasted sea scallops, bergamont and angelica (£24), fillet and breast of lamb, garlic purée, borage and lavender (£39), wild salmon with a citrus and borage gel and radish (£44) and chicken en vessie, morel cream, broad bean flowers and Champagne sauce (£84 – for two people). Desserts include raspberry and lychee soufflé with rose ice cream (£16) or chocolate and jasmine texture (£16).

Kensington Place Herbs and Flowers vs Fruits

Kensington Place, a luxury British brasserie in the heart of Notting Hill, has created two cocktails in honour of the event. Challenging the herbs vs flowers taste test, Kensington Place’s mixologist, Imants Zusmanis, has created a Basil and Elderflower Martini, made with vodka, Chase elderflower, lime, sugar and pear juice and a Grape and Apple Collins, created with Chase gin, apple juice, grapes, sugar and lime, topped with lemonade.
