Hawke’s Bay to host Air NZ Wine Awards
The 2014 Air New Zealand Wine Awards, which recognises excellence in the country’s winemaking, is to take place in Hawke’s Bay this November.
The awards dinner will take place on 22 November at the Pettigrew Arena in Taradale and will be attended by the leading figures in New Zealand’s wine industry.
The highlight of the evening is the awarding of the Air New Zealand Champion Wine of the Show, which last year was won by Nautilus Estate for its Cuvée Brut NV, as well as the O-I New Zealand Reserve Wine of the Show which went to Villa Maria’s 2012 Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay last time.
Global marketing director for New Zealand Winegrowers, Chris Yorke, said: “Winning a trophy or medal is recognition of the hard work and skill that goes into making the wine, and lets consumers know they are drinking some of the finest wine in the world.”
