Around the Grounds in 14 days: Day three
On day three of the Benevolent chairman’s challenge, Chris Porter travelled to the south coast taking in six stadiums in one of his most challenging days yet.
Chris set off on his “trusty steed” pedal bike from St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton at 7am with the words, “too tired to spell my own name.” It was the start of a day which would see Chris visit six football grounds on the UK’s south coast on what he was anticipating to be one of his most logistically challenging days.
With no time to spare Chris travelled along the south coast to visit the grounds of Bournemouth FC, where he was met with warm and sunny weather….
… and a new companion, who could have passed as his personal mascot.
Chris then headed toward the West Country visiting Yeovil Town FC, Torquay United and Plymouth. Chris met two of beneficiaries of the drinks charity, The Benevolent, at his last two stops; Steven at the Torquay stadium and Sarah in Plymouth. The challenge has so far raised more than £9,000 for the charity, which supports members of the drinks industry in need. To make a donation, click here.
