Noma back on top as world’s best restaurant
Danish restaurant Noma has once again been named World’s Best Restaurant after losing it last year.
Noma was named the best restaurant in the world for three years in a row before losing last year to Spanish restaurant Celler de Can Roca which this time took second place.
The award was announced last night at London’s Guildhall. A statement said: “Noma chef-owner René Redzepi (pictured) is recognised for his highly original, sometimes visceral version of new Nordic cuisine. His food strives to reflect the Danish landscape and culture with signature dishes such as ‘Blackcurrant Berries and Roses’.
“Redzepi’s meticulous attention to detail, innovative approach to foraging and experimentation with fermentation – all driven by passion and a relentless curiosity – has once again brought his restaurant to the pinnacle. “
Third place was taken by Italian restaurant Osteria Francescana run by Massimo Bottura.
The UK has two restaurants in the top 10, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and The Ledbury.
Earlier his year it was announced that Noma was going to relocate to Japan for two months at the beginning of 2015.
