Latour owner buys Right Bank estates
François Pinault, the owner of first growth property Château Latour, has snapped up several estates in the Right Bank communes of Pomerol and Saint Emilion.
Pinault’s Artemis Group has bought a stake in the Baronne Guichard group which gives it control of three estates: Château Siaurac in Lalande-de-Pomerol, Vray Croix de Gay in Pomerol and La Prieuré in Saint Emilion.
The three estates have a combined 56 hectares of vineyard, the value of the deal was not disclosed although local paper Sud Ouest reported that the stake was 49%.
Despite having properties around France (in the Rhône) and in the Napa Valley, this is the first time Pinault has acquired any property on the right bank.
It is not the first time a first growth proprietor has snapped up property on the Right Bank.
In 2011 Haut-Brion’s owners, the Clarence Dillon Group, bought the 17ha Château Tertre Daugay in Saint Emilion.
