According to a report in The Local, the men walked into the kiosk in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, on Sunday at 5am demanding a bottle of Becks Gold.
When the assistant told the men they did not stock the drink the two men left, but returned 20 minutes later with a jerry can.
After a brief conversation with the shopkeeper the men poured fuel from the can over the entrance to the shop and set it alight.
A small fire broke out causing minor damage to the front door but no-one was injured.
The men, who were said to be drunk, then fled the scene.
Police have released descriptions of the two men, who spoke Polish, in an attempt to track them down.
One was described as around 28 to 33-years-old with a “big nose”, while the other was around 30-years-old and was wearing a grey jacket and jogging bottoms.
