Study maps beer drinkers’ political vote

Your choice of beer could reveal your political preferences, according to a recent study in the US.

Last week we brought you a study from the US National Media Research Planning and Placement (NMRPP), which revealed what your choice of wine or spirit said about your political allegiance.

According to the study Democrats prefer clear spirits such as vodka and Champagne while Republicans prefer brown liquor such as whiskey and wines.

But what about beer drinkers?

Researchers at NMRPP have devised this chart placing beer drinkers on the political spectrum based on their choice of brew.

According to its findings, strong Democrats have a keen taste for any microbrew, Stella Artois or Miller Genuine Draft.

While Democrats less likely to vote were most likely to be found supping on a pint of Milwaukee’s Best light beer, Heineken or Budweiser.

At the other end of the spectrum, strong willed Republicans were found to prefer Miller Lite, Amstel Lite, Blue Moon, Samuel Adams or Michelbob Ultra brews.

While Republicans less likely to turn out at the ballot preferred Coors, Corona and Busch Light.

The beer which most successfully crosses the political divide was Bud Light which low turnout voters of both sides were found to favour.
