WSET launches level three course in Chinese
The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) has announced that it will launch its Level Three course in Chinese from 1 January 2014.
Ian Harris, WSET’s chief executive, said this week that the Level Three Chinese course will start from pilot training institutions in China.
The organisation translated its lower level courses into simplified and traditional Chinese two years ago
According to TasteSpirit, the WSET exam will accept answers in Chinese from next year, which will be scored by a third party marker chosen by WSET.
Both Chinese and English courses students will obtain the same WSET certification after passing the exam.
In addition, WSET China also announced that it will start the Level Four Diploma course in 2014, previously this could only be taken in Hong Kong. It is hoped that this change will encourage more candidates from Mainland China to take part in higher wine educations.
It was reported that Mainland China is now the second largest market and has shown the biggest growth since last year with the US remaining the third largest market.
