Jackson Family Wines buys 4th Oregon site
Jackson Family Wines has snapped up a fourth estate in Oregon’s Willamette Valley to add to the three it purchased in March.
Soléna Estate in Oregon’s Willamette Valley has been snapped up by Jackson Family Wines
The company, chaired by Barbara Banke, has closed the deal on the 15,000 case Soléna Estate in the Yamhill-Carlton district, owned by Laurent and Danielle Montalieu, for an undisclosed sum.
The pair are due to keep the Soléna name and relocate their business to the NW Wine Company in Dundee.
“We welcome Jackson Family Wines to the neighbourhood and believe they will help us build upon the reputation of the Willamette Valley as a producer of exceptional Pinot Noir,” said Laurent Montalieu, owner and winemaker at Soléna Estate.
In addition to the winery, Jackson Family Wines acquired 14 hectares of vineyard land surrounding the property, though the Domaine Danielle Laurent Vineyard remains in the hands of the Montalieus.

Soléna will continue producing its two single vineyard wines, Domaine Danielle Laurent and Hyland.
“In order to fulfill our vision for creating world-class Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley, we need a winery capable of producing artisan wines,” said Hugh Reimers, executive vice president of Jackson Family Wines.
“Soléna is beautifully designed for boutique, small-lot winemaking,” he added.
The Montalieus are building a new tasting room and visitor center on their Domaine Danielle Laurent vineyard, which is expected to open next May.
“With the recent purchase of two new vineyards, we’ve outgrown our current capacity,” said Danielle Montalieu, co-owner of Soléna Estate.
“Moving all of our production to the NW Wine Company allows for continued growth and for Laurent to focus on the winemaking at one location during harvest,” she added.
This March, Jackson Family Wines purchased three properties in the Willamette Valley in order to diversify the company’s line-up of Pinot Noirs.
Founded by the late Jess Jackson, Jackson Family Wines comprises 35 brands, including Kendall-Jackson and Arrowood in California and Yangarra in Australia.
