Beautiful South catalogue available
Online registration for the Beautiful South tasting next month is open, as is the opportunity to download the full tasting catalogue.
Taking place on 11 and 12 September, the Beautiful South is a new tasting format bringing together producers from Chile, Argentina and South Africa.
Run and organised by the generic bodies from each country, the show will feature over 300 producers and more than 3,000 wines.
There will be six “Focus Tables” featuring regional Cabernet Sauvignons, competition winners, Chardonnays over £10, old vines, red blends and wines from a new generation of southern hemisphere winemakers.
There is also a full schedule of seminars with the likes of Tim Atkin MW, Jo Ahearne MW, Peter McCombie MW, Ronan Sayburn MS and Fernando Santibañez on subjects such as global warming, old vintages, cool climate areas and some of the original wineries in each country.
As the tasting is being conducted in the spirit of co-operation, all of the tasting tables and seminars will be mixed, displaying wine from all three countries.
Jo Wehring of Wines of South Africa commented that the tasting had been tested at ProWein a number of times and had been introduced following calls from the trade to reduce the number of tastings.
She said: “We believe that this event positions our three countries as dynamic and forward thinking, we’re not afraid to stand together to create a tasting that better suits the needs of the trade and our producers. It’s a confident move, achievable because we are all very active in promoting our wines in our leading export markets.”
