Writers head to Ardbeg for Alan Lodge
A group of 20 people from the UK drinks industry are raising money for The National Brain Appeal by running the Ardbeg Half Marathon in memory of Alan Lodge.
The drinks business, late news and website editor and deputy editor of The Spirits Business, tragically passed away in 2012 at the age of 29 from a brain haemorrhage.
With Ardbeg famously Alan’s favourite tipple and to remember him in style, a team of drinks writers and industry names will be running the arduous 13.1 miles of the Ardbeg Half Marathon on Islay on 3 August.
“For those who know how tough and arduous it is training for something like a half marathon, we are hoping you will show some sympathy and support for us as we gear up for this challenge,” said Becky Paskin, deputy editor of The Spirits Business and one of the runners taking part. “Alan was a very dear friend of so many of us, and an ardent fan of Ardbeg. This race is the perfect way for us to remember him and give something back in his memory.”
The Ardbeg Half Marathon Runners also include Richard Siddle, editor of Harper’s Wine & Spirit; Richard Woodard, freelance drinks writer; Hamish Smith, deputy editor of Drinks International; Lucy Britner, bars editor of Drinks International; Olly Wehring, managing editor of Just Drinks; and Marcin Miller, managing director of Quercus Communications to name a few.
