Miami Heat runs up US$100k Champagne bill

Players with the US NBA champions, Miami Heat, celebrated their championship win in style, by downing US$100,000 in Champagne at a Miami nightclub.

Miami Heat won this year’s basketball championship in the US, with a thrilling win over San Antonio Spurs in the final match of a seven-game series. And the players, including the likes of LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh headed to Liv nightclub in Miami to celebrate.

The win represented back-to-back titles for the Heat and Dom Pérignon became the celebratory drink of choice for the players, and their entourage.

Club owner David Grutman said the players ordered 100 bottles of Dom Pérignon and three 3-litre Jeroboams of Champagne.

Grutman said that the standard-sized bottles of Dom Pérignon sell for $850 each, while the club sells the Jeroboams for $5,000 a piece.

But Heat fan Grutman helped the celebration, and the Champagne, taste even sweeter by not charging the players.

“I’m not going to charge the Heat,” Grutman said of the $100,000 bill.

It is not the first time LeBron James has been involved in a big round, but it does fall short of the most expensive bar bill.

After a long NBA season, it great to see the Miami Heat enjoy themselves following the championship game. Good post.
