‘Locks away’ for cancer charity
Mimi Avery, brand ambassador for UK wine merchant Averys, has gone the extra mile in a cancer charity fundraising mission by shaving her head last weekend.

Inspired by the loss of her friend Kay Booker to the disease, Mimi’s initiative has so far raised over £4,000. This will be divided between Macmillan Cancer Support and the Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs to children who are undergoing cancer treatment.
Mimi’s hair has also been donated to the Little Princess Trust, with additional fundraising being used to cover the cost of converting this into a wig. As Mimi explained, “Wigs are incredibly expensive, especially the smaller more intricate ones for children.”
Explaining the reason for taking such a dramatic step for charity, Mimi said: “I am determined to do something radical and different to help raise funds for Macmillan who did an amazing job with helping both Kay and her family.”
Anyone in the trade wishing to support Mimi’s effort can click here to donate to Macmillan or here for the Little Princess Trust. Both web pages will stay live for donations for a further three months.
