Chillsner cools beer from the inside out
A new icicle-like gadget aims to put an end to warm and flat beer. The Chillsner from Corkcicle is an “in-bottle, drink-through beer chiller”.
The Chillsner contains a non-toxic thermal gel, which can be frozen and then the 23cm stainless-steel rod is inserted into the beer bottle to help chill it down quickly. The gadget is useable after just 45 minutes, although the company’s website does say that for best results it should be frozen for 90 minutes.
When the frozen Chillsner is placed inside the beer bottle, a firm press will create an airtight seal and then four flow vents give the drinker “a consistent flow of perfectly chilled beer with every sip.”
Kim Miller, from Corkcicle, said: “The Chillsner was created because there is nothing worse than drinking warm beer. Drinking beer is about relaxing and enjoying yourself and when beer gets warm, you are forcing yourself to drink it down, not enjoying it.
“The problem is beer is often drunk in hot settings, such as at the beach, at the pool, at a sporting event or at a barbecue in your garden.
“If your beer isn’t cool enough to contrast with this warm environment it’s almost not worth drinking, that’s why the solution to this is The Chillsner.”
The gadget will retail for US$29.95 (around £20) for a pair; it is already available in the US and is expected to be available in the UK from next month.
“there is nothing worse than drinking warm beer”. Yes there is… no beer!
