Cat Lomax joins Waitrose
Waitrose has announced that former Direct Wines buyer Cat Lomax has joined the supermarket’s wine buying team.
Lomax joined last week having spent nearly five years at Direct Wines where she was named “Young Achiever of the Year” at the drinks business’ awards in 2011, as well as being part of the “Retail Buying Team of the Year” at the same awards in 2012.
At Waitrose she will be responsible for sourcing wines from Bordeaux, the Rhône, Alsace, the US, Germany and Austria.
Ken Mackay MW, wine buying manager says: “As well as clear commercial skill and an enormous passion for wine, Cat is incredibly personable and I’m very sure that she will not only be a great asset to our team, but also a pleasure for us all to work with over the coming years.”
Lomax was awarded the Derouet Jameson scholarship for outstanding academic achievement in her WSET Diploma and will begin studying for her MW next year.
