Wogan pizza place to sell Prosecco on tap
Restaurateur Mark Wogan, son of Sir Terry, is to open a pizza restaurant in Covent Garden selling Prosecco on tap.
The 50-steater Homeslice Pizza will open in Covent Garden next month, having started life as a pop-up venture, Homeslice London, at The Filling Station in King’s Cross.
In addition to Prosecco on tap, the restaurant will offer British beer, Margaritas, and double magnums of house wine at £4 a glass, with a measuring stick on the tables for customers to help themselves and pay for what they drink.
“We are keeping it simple. Mark really understands what Homeslice is all about,” said the restaurant’s New Zealand-born head chef Ry Jessup.
As for the pizzas, Jessup’s mission is to use simple, quality ingredients to create contemporary flavour combinations.
At Homeslice, pizzas will be hand-rolled on a marble surface and cooked in a wood fired oven in an open kitchen.
Five styles will be offered daily, including the likes of artichoke and courgette with lemon and parsley, or bone marrow, spring onion and watercress, at £4 a slice or £20 a pizza.
Customers will be able to view the day’s pizzas on Homeslice’s Twitter feed.
