Hotel du Vin reaffirms trading position

Malmaison and Hotel du Vin has declared that its business is in excellent health, despite the financial troubles of one of its shareholders.

It was recently reported that MWB Group had called in Deloitte as it teetered on the edge of administration.

However, the CEO of the hotel group, Gary Davis, has been quick to say that the difficulties of MWB, “makes no difference to us whatsoever”.

A statement from the hotels stated that profits were up 14% over the last four months on last year.

Davis told the drinks business: “What is happening to MWB, while unfortunate for them, doesn’t impact on us.

“We are actually expanding and doing quite well. Sales are up and we will have new developments appearing over the next few months.

“We have a Malmaison hotel under construction in Dundee which should be finished by July next year and open in August. And we’re renovating a building for a new Hotel du Vin in St Andrews which should be done by next March.”

Davis also revealed that there were plans for another Hotel du Vin in Stratford-upon-Avon and Malmaisons in York and Bristol.
