Ausone and DRC fall in October
Ausone’s 2000 vintage and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti’s 2002 La Tâche were the big fallers on Liv-ex last month as the 100 index dipped as well, but Pavie performed strongly.
After a couple of months of gain, the Liv-ex 100 fell slightly in October by 1.68 to 258.4. It is currently recording a loss of 9.8% year on year.
Ausone saw the biggest fall of the month, with its 2000 vintage dropping 12.2% to £9,496, closely followed by DRC’s 2002 La Tâche which dropped 10.6% to £14,757.
Other wines that performed poorly last month included Palmer 2005 (down 9.7%), Léoville-Poyferré 2009 (-9.1%) and Latour 2002 (-7.8%).
Latour’s 2009 by contrast was the month’s leading wine, rising to £10,600 a case (7.1%), with two vintages of Pavie also rising strongly.
Pavie’s 2009 and 2005 both rose by a little over 6% to hit £2,426 and £2,125 a case respectively.
The other two top risers were 2009 Margaux (up 6%) and 1995 Pétrus (up 4.7%).
