Architects unveil stunning Lavaux wine museum plans
Swiss architects have released plans for an incredible wine museum suspended over the Lavaux Vineyard Terraces on Lake Geneva.
The Lavaux Vineyard Terraces are a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the shores of Lake Geneva and Swiss architects Mauro Turin has released its plans for a stunning wine museum overlooking the area.
The proposed wine museum would be suspended above the terraced vineyards, which cover 830 hectares, stretching for about 30km along the northern shores of Lake Geneva.
The architects were trying to create a wine museum that would help to attract more people to the terraced vineyards. The company said: “A wine museum suspended on a rock, avoiding the sublime terraced vineyards, which becomes integrated to the landscape and offers a walk in the air allowing an unforgettable experience of Lavaux, Lake Geneva and the Alps could be the answer.”
The architects drawing also show plans for the museum to have a glass bottom, which would offer visitors incredible views of the vineyards. The architects added: “The museum wants to be a small iconic object in a great iconic landscape; without being in competition but rather feeding each other.”
The statement from the architects offers a wonderful description of the plans, saying: “The integration of the museum is contextual and regional without falling into a banal mimesis or a fearful disappearance; it is the order of the experienced observer, of the deep sensibility and of the advanced intellectual exercise. It is the order of the nature of things.” Quite.

It really has the great architecture with natural beauty around. Good architecture makes a construction complete.
I lived in Lausanne for 4 years, commuting to Château d’Oex and Villars regularly, every time passing through the Lavaux by road or rail, or by boat on the lake. What a fantastic idea. It is truly one of the world’s most beautiful vineyard landscapes, but then there are so many to choose from.
Stunning and unbelievably dramatic! Fabulously exciting! Hats off to nature and such creative talent in those architects!
