New French beer heads for UK shores

Gallia, a premium Parisian beer, is set to hit the UK this autumn.

UK distributor Coles Trading Ltd, is bringing the beer to the UK and the plan is to ensure Gallia makes a strong appearance in the run up to Christmas.

Coles Trading MD Tim Coles said: “It is no secret that the Union Jack is king at the moment – brands carrying the flag are more popular than ever in our high streets. It is also known that continental premium beers are extremely popular in the UK and we see Gallia Paris having huge potential here.”

Gallia is one of Paris’s original French beers having first launched in 1890. Production of the beer stopped in 1968, but was revived when Guillaume Roy contacted the great-grandson of Gallia’s original founder, who agreed to let him re-launch the beer.

Roy said of Gallia’s great-grandson: “He and his family immediately supported the project to revive Gallia. So in 2010, using the original production techniques, brewing began again.”

Gallia Paris will be available in 330ml bottles and is 5.5% ABV with a “light golden colour” and “a delicate sweet and bitter balance”.
