Mackay promoted to Waitrose wine buying manager
Ken Mackay MW has been promoted from wine buyer to wine buying manager at UK supermarket Waitrose.
As well as leading a team of two buyers and an assistant, he will still be in charge of the supermarket’s Champagne and sparkling wine buying.
Pierpaolo Petrassi MW, head of buying for beers, wines, spirits and tobacco, said: “The subsequent addition of a second buying manager to the wine team will give us the structure to pursue the considerable opportunity for growth within this flagship category for Waitrose.”
Mackay joined Waitrose in 2008 having become one of the youngest masters of wine ever in 2006.

Hi
I can say that I have never been so let down by the above wine. The choice was taken from your Wine,Beer and Sprits book.
I have tasted wines that I have not liked but found the experience of the above product similar to a glass of water that had a lemon placed in it for a few days.I have always found that Waitrose Wines were good value for money but this wine wine lets the side down.

Sorry, what is the relevance of the above comment? Does anyone moderate this site??

Sorry Stephen, you’re absolutely right – it would appear that they’ve commented on the wrong piece.
Actually on closer examination, I think the commentator has intended to leave a message directly for Mr Mackay. Which is just fine by us.
