Porky concept hits Hong Kong
The Shore Group this month expanded upon their L Place presence with the opening of the Salted Pig, introducing a pork-heavy menu to Hong Kong diners.
Based on European – largely British – cuisine, the restaurant replaces the short-lived Sesame Japanese restaurant that previously occupied L Place’s second floor under the Shore Group’s tenancy.
Designed around a “rustic, fun, home-style” atmosphere, the eatery and bar caters to a lower price point than Shore and Shore Steak, which occupy the floors above the new restaurant.
Value-for-money is a key driver at the new restaurant, with reasonably priced a la carte and set lunch menus complementing the homely décor. Wine is also sold by the carafe, at prices of HK$58, HK$108 and HK$158 for 150ml, 300ml or 500ml carafes, respectively.
Naturally the humble pig features heavily on the menu, with specialties including Stuffed Pork Tenderloin for two; Ploughman’s Platter – offering an array of homemade terrine and scotch egg, charcuterie, cheese, apple, pickles and bread; and the signature Shredded Pork Knuckle Memphis Style Sandwich.
Executive chef Jason Black, also responsible for the menus at the Salted Pig’s sister establishments, says that the dining philosophy at the new venture is simple – “the best seasonal ingredients, the simple techniques, the truest of flavours.
“It is the warm atmosphere and the exceptionally friendly service of The Salted Pig combined with the delightful farmhouse food that will keep [diners] coming back for more.”
