High price anticipated for rare Scotch
A bottle of Dalmore 50-year-old Scotch whisky is expected to sell for up to £7,000 at auction this month.
The ceramic decanter of Dalmore 50 will be the most anticipated lot in Bonhams’ Scottish sale in Edinburgh on August 29th. A similar bottle, also auctioned at Bonhams in Edinburgh in June this year, sold for £8,270 (including auction premiums).
The whisky was put into cask in 1926, but contains spirit first distilled in 1868, giving the lucky buyer a chance to savour elements of the whisky that are more than 144 years old.
The Dalmore Master Distiller Richard Paterson has spoken enthusiastically about the Dalmore 50: “I believe we are the only distillery which has the depth of stock to create such a long loved and nurtured whisky as this”.
