Glenfarclas marks Glorious Twelfth
Glenfarclas has launched a limited edition bottling of its highland single malt Glenfarclas “105” to celebrate the Glorious Twelfth.
Glenfarclas “105” 20-years-old
As the British grouse season gets underway, the company is releasing just 4,000 bottles of this 20-year-old whisky, which is bottled at a natural cask strength of 60% abv with an RRP of £200 for a 70cl bottle.
George Grant, sales director and the sixth generation of the family-owned business, described the 105 20 Years Old as having “big, powerful aromas” and being “remarkably smooth for a 60% whisky.”
The Grant family first created the bottling that would become known as Glanfarclas 105 back in 1968 as a Christmas gift for family and friends. The name relates to the British Proof system of alcohol measurement, with 105 proof equating to 60% abv.
Originally bottled as an 8-year-old whisky, the Glenfarclas 105 has been bottled as a 10-year-old since 1989. In 2008 a special 40-year-old version was released to mark the 40th anniversary of the Glenfarclas 105.
