In addition to making the shortlist for the International Wine Website of the Year, db’s senior staff writer Lucy Shaw has been shortlisted for Emerging Wine Writer of the Year, while deputy editor Gabriel Savage is on the shortlist for International Wine Feature Writer of the Year.
Charles Metcalfe, chairman of the judges, remarked: “The quality and quantity of entries to this year’s awards has been exceptionally high again and some categories were very difficult for us to decide upon a winner.”
James Samson, UK brand manager for Champagne Louis Roederer, highlighted the “distinguished panel of judges”, which this year included Peter Richards MW, Anthony Rose, Jamie Goode, Margaret Rand, Liz Sagues and, for the Artistry of Wine award, Victoria Hall.
“There was a remarkable degree of unanimity in the scoring, although picking the final winners was what took considerably longer,” Samson concluded, confirming that these will be announced at an invitation-only award ceremony on Monday 17 September.
