5,200 bottles of wine stolen in robbery
A high-end boutique winery in Aldergrove, Canada has lost thousands of bottles of rare wine after a CAD$200,000 heist.
Thieves broke the lock on the gate of Blackwood Lane Vineyards and Winery and took 10 tonnes of wine.
In all, more than 5,200 bottles of wine from the small winery were taken.
They stole three pallets of 2007 Alliance, one pallet each of Cabernet Sauvignon and rosé and one pallet and 16 cases of 2006 Alliance.
It was the loss of the winery’s signature CAD$60-a-bottle Alliance wine which hurt the most for the owners.
“It is truly a collector’s bottle,” said Carlos Lee, owner of Blackwood Lane Winery. The Bordeaux blend made up the bulk of the bottles stolen.
Police are monitoring Craigslist and other websites to see if someone will try to sell the stolen goods, but so far nothing has turned up.
Yesterday we reported on a the lost of £100,000 worth of wine in a smash and grab raid at a Hampshire merchants.
