Young talent shines at db awards
Alex Hunt MW, purchasing director of Berkman Wine Cellars, was named Young Achiever of the Year at The Drinks Business Awards 2012.
Alex Hunt MW receives his award from db chairman Antony Hawser
In this latest profile in our series of award winners, Hunt was commended for both “hard work and professionalism”, winning praise from his colleagues for his knowledge, skill and acumen as a buyer.
Hunt has also gained a tremendous amount of respect from the international wine trade, with regular judging positions in some of the world’s most prestigious competitions
Having intially started out in the wine trade as a van driver for Oddbins during his degree at Oxford, Hunt captained the university blind tasting team before joining first Mayfair Cellars and then, in 2006, Berkmann Wine Cellars.
Having gained his Master of Wine qualification in 2010, this year he began contributing a monthly column for Purple Pages, the website of Jancis Robinson MW, where he comments on issues surrounding the art and science of tasting.
