Australian Vintage “success story” rewarded
Australian Vintage was recognised as “a key driver for change” as it took home the award for Drinks Company of the Year at The Drinks Business Awards 2012.
Presenting the award, Yvonne May, UK & Europe director of Wine Australia, described the company, whose brands include McGuigan, Tempus Two and Nepenthe, as “a real success story.”
“Australian Vintage has taken its McGuigan brand from nowhere to the top 10 most popular brands in the UK in fewer than six years,” she outlined. “Its work is commended by suppliers and buyers alike and it is a key driver for change in the category.”
Runner up in this category was Concha y Toro, which won praise from the judges “for really doing something different and for making its passion and enthusiasm for quality a real asset.”
Other companies who made it onto the shortlist in this strong category were González Byass, Free Run Wines, Bibendum Wine and Hi-Spirits. For a complete list of this year’s db award winners, click here.
