A glass sculpture dominates the room at an event at Mall Galleries in London, where the portrait of the late Janet Sheed Roberts with her family dog “Freuchie” was unveiled alongside a portrait of her nephew and life president of William Grant & Sons, Charles Gordon. Part of the event was an auction of a rare bottle of Glenfiddich, which was sold for £42,000 to World Duty Free Group.

Richard Woodard, editor of The Spirits Business, develops a new-found respect for the skills of a cooper as he tries his hand at building a barrel at The Speyside Cooperage.

West Country cider producer Bridge Farm Cider presented their limited edition Jubilee cider to the Queen herself. Bridge Farm Cider, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, has toasted the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by offering a limited edition run of 6000 bottles, named after one of Her Majesty’s Dorgis (a cross-breed of a Dachshund and a Corgi).

George Grant, sales director of Glenfarclas whisky, fills an old Hine Cognac cask as part of an informal exchange project between the two houses. The finished whisky is due for release in 16 years’ time.

Consumers enjoyed their first taste of Jim Beam Honey at a giant beehive installation in central London, following the launch of the UK’s first ever honey-infused bourbon in March. More images from the event can be seen here.
