Drinkaware chief exec resigns
Drinkaware chief executive Chris Sorek has resigned three and a half years after he was appointed to head up the alcohol education charity.
Sorek, who joined Drinkaware in November 2008, will leave his role at the end of June, having decided to head back to his native North America “for family reasons”.
”I will miss being part of Drinkaware and am incredibly proud of what the charity has become,” said Sorek.
Continuing he said, “Our ability to successfully deliver behaviour change campaigns, communications, grants and resources is due to a highly professional and motivated staff.”
During his time at the helm, the Drinkaware team has grown to 16 full-time staff, while the charity has expanded its focus to three target audiences: parents and their children, young adults and adults who regularly drink above the daily guidelines.
Furthermore, the Drinkaware website now attracts nearly three million unique visitors a year and the logo is featured on over five billion products.
Derek Lewis, Drinkaware chairman commented: “Chris has been instrumental in establishing the organisation as the pre-eminent provider of evidence-based alcohol information and education in the UK.”
The recruitment for a new chief executive is already underway.
