Magrez adds to Bordeaux empire
French wine magnate Bernard Magrez has added three Bordeaux properties to his extensive portfolio of estates.
Magrez, who owns Château Pape Clement and Château La Tour Carnet, is expected to use the new properties to help the production of his current estates.
His three new Bordeaux acquisitions are; the 15-hectare Château Malleprat in Pessac Léognan, the 10ha Château Moulin d’Ulysse in Listrac-Médoc and the 3.5ha Château Romer in Sauternes.
He is now the owner of approximately 40 properties around the world, including in Chile and Japan.
With the purchase of Château Romer, the smallest classified estate property in Sauternes, Magrez can integrate its production with the nearby Château Latrezotte in Barsac, where he produces La Sauternes de ma Fille.
The 10.5 acres in Listrac will be used to produce a second wine for the classified château, La Tour Carnet.
