Deutz changes US distribution
After 13 years with Maisons Marques & Domaines USA, Deutz will be handled by regional distributors which are independent from the Louis Roederer network in North America.
Fabrice Rosset, chairman & CEO of Deutz explained: “Our worldwide strategy has been to have a separate importer from the rest of the wineries within the Group Roederer.
“It has served us well and we feel now is the time for the US to follow the same strategy.”
Maisons Marques & Domaines USA (MMD) was founded in 1987 as the marketing company for Champagne Louis Roederer and Deutz, both owned by Group Roederer.
It is headquartered in Oakland, California, and has an office in New York.
Rosset described the new strategy as “a big change”.
But, he added, “Success is more likely if the brand is independent.”
