AIM gather global experts for alcohol conference
Alcohol in Moderation (AIM) is to host a conference this autumn to discuss better educational methods to promote healthier drinking and the development of lower alcohol products.
Keynote speakers will include cabinet minister Oliver Letwin MP and Despina Spanou, co- chair of The EU Alcohol and Health Forum.
Letwin will speak on the government’s “nudge” campaign and how it fits with the nation’s changing attitude to alcohol, while Spanou will be commenting on the EU’s alcohol strategy.
Taking place on 18 October this year, the conference will address the topics of alcohol education and the market for lower alcohol products and innovations with other talks examining successful schemes in other countries around the world such as Sweden, Spain and Australia – with a particular focus on young people.
There will also be a “medical exploration” by various specialists on the benefits of lower alcohol and its effect on blood concentration and how alcohol is metabolised.
