Wine bar opens in London pub
The Jamaica Wine House, a historic pub in the City of London, has opened a new wine bar.
Situated downstairs, the pub is now host to Todd’s Wine Bar, serving Louis Roederer Champagnes and Taylor’s Estate Ports.
The bar also serves cocktails and “bistro-style” food in surroundings that include vintage Champagne posters and pupitres – the famous riddling racks from the region – glass-topped tables and “luxurious” leather booths.
Shepherd Neame retail director Nigel Bunting said: “Todd’s Wine Bar is a vibrant and exciting addition to The Jamaica Wine House, giving visitors a wider choice of food, drink and environment.
“There can be few pubs in London that provide such a versatile and high quality offer and such good value for money.”
Opened as a London’s first coffee house in 1652, The Jamaica Wine House (or “Jampot” as it is apparently known by its patrons) was a favourite of diarist Samuel Pepys.
