Rare vintage service launched

Luxury lifestyle website VintageSeekers.com has launched a service offering customers single bottles of old and rare vintages for milestone birthdays and anniversaries.

Château Pétrus 1982

Among the 150-strong cherry picked offering is a bottle of 1922 Maxime Trijol Ancestrale Cognac for £480, a bottle of 1942 Signonac Armangac for £510, a case of 1982 Château Pétrus for £62,000 and a bottle of 1991 Château d’Yquem for £247.50.

The current collection is geared towards the milestone anniversaries of 2012, including 18th, 21st, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th and 70th birthdays, and crystal, china, silver, pearl, ruby, gold and diamond wedding anniversaries, sourced from its network of importers, including Fields Morris & Verdin and German speicalists The WineBarn.

It is considering adding a series of wines to celebrate the notoriously tricky 7th wedding anniversary, in a cheeky nod to the “seven-year itch”.

“We’re not trying to compete with the big fine wine merchants like Berry Bros and Fine & Rare wines,” Vintage Seekers co-founder Lucy Evans told db.

“We’ve found our own niche by targeting cash rich, time poor, often international consumers who like wine, but don’t necessarily know what to look for. We’re here to serve as a shortcut.

“Our aim is to have our entire list on offer by the single bottle by the end of the year. Around half are available at the moment,” Evans added.

The wine offering will be updated annually in order to stay relevant to each year’s celebrations, while alternatives of Armagnac, Cognac, whisky, Sherry, Port and Madeira will be provided in less spectacular wine vintages.

A complimentary concierge “Seeker Service” is also available, where specific vintages can be sourced to order.
