Vinoteca to open third site in Soho

Restaurant and wine bar Vinoteca is to add a third site to its portfolio in Soho, central London, this April.

Founders Brett Woonton, Elena Ares and Charlie Young announced the Beak Street opening yesterday.

Along with a restaurant and wine bar, the site will also feature a shop stocked with nearly 300 bottles of wine.

Vinoteca currently runs two sites – Vinoteca Farringdon, which opened in September 2005, and Vinoteca Marylebone, launched in late 2010.

The concept is inspired in part by the wine bars of Spain and Italy, known as “vinotecas” and “enotecas”, where high quality, characterful wines are paired with simple but imaginative food created from fresh, seasonal ingredients.

The news comes within days of Battersea restaurant and wine shop Artisan & Vine announcing its closure due to a lack of demand for local and natural wines.

Before setting up Vinoteca, both Woonton and Young worked for Liberty Wines.

  1. This is great news! A city such as London, with its vinous history and heritage deserves more wine bars and places like this. Watch this space, more to follow…
