Umami injects pan-Asian flavour
Asian restaurant Umami will bring a pan-Asian influence to west London when it opens on 14 March in South Kensington.
Located on Cromwell Road, the venue will focus on small and sharing dishes which combine influences from Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Korea.
In addition to the a la carte option, guests will also be able to explore these cuisines via a selection of set menus and an Asian tasting menu, which will feature delicacies such as Malaysian beef rendang, Indonesian curry and Vietnamese spring rolls.
To avoid a tannin clash with the typically spicy flavours of Asian cuisine, the concise wine list sticks largely to soft, generous New World styles, all of which are available in a variety of glass sizes.
The kitchen team will be headed by Darren Kutty, former head chef at the Ramada Hyde Park and The Washington Hotel in Mayfair.
