Tinto de Verano set for UK launch
Rioja producer Berberana is preparing to debut Berberana Fiesta, a red wine spritzer known in Spain as Tinto de Verano.
Served in PET bottles, the 5% abv summer red, imported by United Wineries, comes as a pre-mixed blend of red table wine and lemonade.
According to James Craig-Wood of United Wineries, the product presents a unique opportunity for an entirely new category in UK supermarkets.
“This is a bold move for Berberana, and another step in the brand’s innovative history.
“Berberana Fiesta is ideal for picnics and days out on the beach, and is best enjoyed in a tall glass full of ice.
“It’s very much a summer drink, and is a great chance to attract younger consumers who might usually go for cocktails to the wine category,” he told db.
The red wine spritzer is the first of its kind in the UK, but is already selling well in Spain.
“There’s no reason why Brits shouldn’t embrace it with the same enthusiasm as the Spanish have,” said Craig-Wood, who is open to alternative packaging suggestions from retailers.
“At the moment we’ve put it in PET, but there’s no reason why it can’t go in a can or bag-in-box if that’s what the retailers want,” he said.
When can I buy this in the UK please
