Benevolent chief appeals to trade
The Benevolent’s chief executive, Paul Newman, has called for more support from the industry at this year’s Benevolent Ball.
With the current economic pressures contributing to job losses and pub closures, Newman is urging the trade to think of those who are suffering serious hardship.
Newman commented: “Given the current economic climate we believe that it is essential that we show our support to those in need at The Benevolent Ball.
“With an increasing number from the trade facing economic and medical hardship it is more important than ever that we provide assistance to our vulnerable co-workers past and present and their loved ones.”
The ball is taking place on Thursday 8 March at the Dorchester Hotel on Park Lane. All proceeds from the ball will go towards helping those in the drinks trade who are in difficulty.
Champagne Mumm is sponsoring the reception, which is followed by a four course meal with wines provided by other sponsors, who include Diageo, Pernod Ricard and International Wine Challenge.
Guests also have the opportunity to bring their own wines for their table. The evening’s entertainment includes an auction of “money can’t buy prizes”, a live band and casino.
Tickets cost £150. For further information contact The Benevolent on +44 (0) 207 089 3888 or email eleanorperry@thebenevolent.org.uk.
