Luxury Martell Trunk heads for Hong Kong
The Martell Trunk is heading to Hong Kong early in 2012, giving Cognac fans in Asia the chance to buy their very own limited edition unit.
Such is the level of craftsmanship that goes in to making each €150,000 unit that producers have set a manufacturing limit of just 10 trunks globally.
The Martell Trunk will be displayed on L1 at Pacific Place between 12 and18 January.
According to Martell, the Trunk “showcases the greatest of all Cognacs, the finest in craftsmanship, and the very best in cognac-related accessories.”
It showcases the entire Martell range, together with 28 montres containing four exclusive blends, known as Les Assemblages Exclusifs, created by Martell’s cellar master Benoît Fil from the house’s finest vintages.
The trunk is the work of the luxury trunk makers Pinel & Pinel, hand-made by 10 skilled craftsmen over almost 1,000 man-hours in their Paris workshop.
The mobile trunk-case is reported to be the largest ever produced: 2.06 metres high, 2.20 metres wide and 0.70 metres deep. In Martell Blue, it is made from full-grain leathers, copper, silver plate, oak, crystal and linen.
They also feature a selection of luxury accessories linked to the art of serving and enjoying Cognac, allowing you to create your own, tailor-made Martell tasting.
They include crystal glasses and decanters, utensils for composing cocktails, rare scented candles and a cigar humidor.
There’s also a silver-plated metal ice bucket designed by Ercuis, and for the dishes to accompany the tasting, there are silver-plated metal dishes and steel accessories, a linen apron, tea towels and napkins by Alexandre Turpault and Coucke, and an oak board reminiscent of Martell’s oak casks.
The trunk features not only a humidor for keeping cigars in controlled conditions of humidity and temperature, but also every accessory for the cigar aficionado: a cigar cutter, lighter, matches, and an ashtray in crystal and rosewood.
A small blue leather-bound booklet – The Cellar Master’s Notebook – contains all the handwritten tasting notes of Benoît Fil on the Martell collection and the exclusive blends, with pages left blank for trunk owners to fill in their own tasting notes.
Great news that more people will get to see the Martell Trunk. Find more about this and other cognac related news at www.cognac-expert.com
I’d love one of these, will they be available in the sales?
