WSTA elects new chairman
The Wine and Spirit Trade Association has nominated Diageo’s Nick Hyde as its new chairman.
Hyde will take up the post in April next year, replacing former chief executive of Majestic Wine, Tim How, who has been WSTA chairman since April 2009.
Hyde is managing director of Diageo Wines Europe, which includes wine subsidiary Percy Fox & Co, fine wine merchant Justerini and Brooks, Bordeaux negociant Vignobles Internationaux and online retailer Quintessentially Wine.
He started his professional life with spells at Unilever and United Biscuits before joining International Distillers and Vintners, where he became managing director of London wine merchant Morgan Furze.
Hyde has been a member of the WSTA board for over 10 years.
“I have always believed the trade achieves more when it works together so I’m delighted to be asked to chair the WSTA,” he said.
“These are challenging times for many businesses, which is why it’s vital we have a strong and confident voice speaking on behalf of the sector,” he added.
