Horsham hotel opens The Cellar
South Lodge Hotel near Horsham, West Sussex is offering guests a more interactive wine experience with its opening of The Cellar.
The room features an Enomatic “Enoround†preservation system as its centrepiece, which allows guests to sample a regularly changing selection of 16 wines by the glass.
In all, The Cellar holds almost 300 different wines from around the world, but with an emphasis on Bordeaux.
Top-up cards for the machine are available from the five star hotel’s reception, while head sommelier Dominic Roberts will be on hand to guide guests through the selection.
Having chosen their wine, guests can then buy a bottle to take through to one of the hotel’s two restaurants, The Pass or The Camellia.
For parties of eight or more, head chef Matt Gillan can put together a selection from the menu designed to complement the wine choice.
Alternatively, groups of up to 20 people can arrange for their wine tasting to be accompanied by a selection of charcuterie, olives, chutneys and freshly baked bread.
Commenting on the launch of The Cellar, general manager at South Lodge Hotel, Rupert Spurgeon, said: “We hope that it will further raise the credentials of the bar and restaurant whilst adding an exclusive concept to the five star luxury hotel.
“It also shows South Lodge Hotel’s dedication and passion towards everything wine and food related.â€
