A run-down of China’s leading restaurants, collated by Gabriel Suk, former wine writer for Time Out China. In no particular order…

Maison Boulud, Beijing

Daniel Boulud’s Beijing restaurant not only boasts the most aesthetically appealing venue in Beijing (the restored Qing Dynasty American ambassador’s residence located just next to Tiananmen Square), it also regularly produces cuisine on a level of quality, consistency and creativity to rival any restaurant in the world.

M on the Bund, Shanghai

One of the pioneering restaurants in China’s fine dining scene, M on the Bund first opened its doors back in 1999 and has consistently produced top quality food in a stunning riverside restaurant ever since.

100 Century Avenue, Shanghai

Often overlooked due to its extensive menu, one should not fault the Park Hyatt Shanghai’s flagship F&B venue for having too many top quality options. Mix in an absolutely amazing wine list, stunning views of Shanghai from its 91st floor perch and there is little not to like.

Grill 79, Beijing

One of the best, most diverse and well-priced wine lists in China. With top level talent in the kitchen and views of Beijing from 79 storeys up, it is a place not to miss.

Da Dong Roast Duck, Beijing

Fine dining, Peking duck style, is what you find at Da Dong. An amazingly rich yet lean (relatively speaking) duck is the main draw here, yet all aspects of their menu are done incredibly well.
