New winemaker at Pichon Lalande
Philippe Moreau has been appointed the new technical director at Bordeaux second growth Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande.
Moreau’s appointment follows a string of changes among some of Bordeaux’s top estates. Moreau replaces Pichon Lalande’s former winemaker, Thomas Dô Chi Nam, who has left to join Château Margaux as technical director.
He in turn has replaced Margaux’s Philippe Bascaules who has become Francis Ford Coppola’s estate manager and winemaker at the director’s property in Napa.
Moreau is also technical director for Château de Pez and Château Bernadotte, which are fellow estates in the Champagne Louis Roederer Group.
This latest change at Pichon Lalande follows the announcement in February that Sylvie Cazes had been appointed managing director of all Louis Roederer’s Bordeaux properties.
