Naked winemakers embark on UK tasting tour
Over 20 independent winemakers are flying to the UK at the end of June as part of a nationwide tasting tour funded by online wine retailer Naked Wines.
Covering eight different cities in a week, the winemakers will showcase in excess of 100 wines which were made possible through Naked Angel funding.
Winemaker Bill Small (pictured) from Marlborough, New Zealand, said: “We’re thrilled to be coming to the UK to meet the customers who’ve supported us over the past year.
Without their investment, our wines simply wouldn’t exist, and we certainly wouldn’t have cracked the UK market.”
Rowan Gormley, Naked Wines’ founder, added: “We get loads of requests from customers asking to meet the winemakers, so we thought it was time to hit the road.
“They chat to one another on the site every day, so it’s great to put faces to names and avatars – nothing beats sharing a glass in person.”
The tasting tour, encompassing London, Bristol, Birmingham, Norwich, Brighton, Manchester, Leeds and Edinburgh, runs from 25 June to 2 July, and includes a series of pop-up tastings in customers’ homes, followed by large consumer events each evening.
